8 Video Game "Gifts" That Made You Say HUMBUG

1. The Whole Game - Superman 64

Grand Theft Auto Vice City
Titus Interactive SA

And finally, let's wrap this list up with a real-world gaming gift you just might've received from a well-meaning relative back on Christmas morning 1999.

We're talking, of course, about Superman 64 - a game that just about any young gamer surely wanted to play, and so ended up under the tree of innumerable households that year. After all, how bad could a Superman game possibly be?

But of course, your parents and grandparents likely weren't reading game reviews magazines, and so had no idea that Titus Interactive's Superman 64 was critically reviled when it launched that summer.

And so, vast swaths of young players were left crestfallen that Christmas morning as they frantically tore open the present's wrapping to be greeted with one of the worst-reviewed games on the N64.

Sure, you gave it the ol' college try out of politeness to the gift-giver, but there was no denying the pain we all felt at having a precious Christmas gaming gift squandered on this utter slopbucket offering, Kryptonite fog be-damned.
