5. Jack Boyd - Rebel Cops (2019)

The protagonist of the strategy video game series, This is the Police, is rather a dubious sort whichever path you have him go down. In the first two, at least. That's nothing compared to what his fate has in store for him come the third game, Rebel Cops.

Jack Boyd is initially portrayed as a policeman looking to make a tasty retirement sum of half a million dollars before quitting the force. The player can choose to make him either good as gold or as corrupt as they come, and it's really quite refreshing to see a video game go with the latter as its basis for the sequel's canon.

This sequel has Jack on the run from the FBI, and by the time of Rebel Cops, the old man has completely given himself to the criminal underworld. Though it's perhaps somewhat predictable given his questionable moral compass, the final betrayal for the player comes when Jack briefly aids the rebels, then reveals himself to be a double agent by opening fire on them.

Truly, this man has come a long way from a mediocre retirement plan.
