More than five years after Halo 5: Guardians' 2015 release, series designer Patrick Wren revealed that the game's sixth campaign level, contained a hidden "Halo Kart" mini-game, allowing four players to race one another on Mongooses, with the winner receiving heavy weapons as a reward.

It's a barmy enough secret that one could easily laugh it off as a joke, but fans took it dead-seriously, especially YouTuber Rocket Sloth, who with a team of pals scoured the map in pursuit of a trigger for the mini-game.

Their search bore no fruit, and so a day later Wren took pity on both them and the legions of waiting fans, tweeting out a not-so-cryptic rhyme which told players to "Simply stand there and wait, a duration of his designation."

Fans soon enough realised the "designation" was referring to Master Chief's service number, 117, suggesting they needed to stand somewhere for 117 seconds.

Wren nudged them a little further in the right direction towards a gate, which when four players stood by it for 1 minute and 57 seconds teleported the quartet into a Mongoose race around the map.
