8 Video Game Mysteries Developers Had To Solve

5. The Secret Track - Dance Dance Revolution Extreme

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas
Konami

Dance Dance Revolution Extreme was released on consoles in 2003, shortly after which fans examined the contents of the game disc and discovered an extra song, "Memories," which wasn't included in the final game itself.

This was largely chalked up to Konami removing the song late in development for unspecified reasons, or there being a secret, undiscovered code to unlock it.

Even with leads drying up, many remained fascinated by this dummied-out track which effectively remained imprisoned and unplayable within the game's code. So close, yet so far.

And then it all finally clicked almost three years later in 2006, when Konami revealed a promotion with Burger King where players could play a mini-game on the Burger King website which, if beaten, would reveal a code for use in DDR Extreme.

And what could the code possibly unlock? The coveted missing song of course, allowing players to burn off those hefty Burger King calories with this late final addition to the tracklist.

Why Konami and Burger King's promotion happened so damn long after the game's home release, though, is another mystery altogether.
