So let's get this out of the way first thing, Resident Evil 4's Remake is bloody brilliant.

It's stylish, it's got drumskin-tight gameplay, and it's a title that has embraced what worked in the original while not being afraid to shave off some of the rougher edges. While it was a little disappointing to hear that The Mercenaries Mode wouldn't ship with the base game at launch, after running the game back to back, all it did was build anticipation for what was already one of my favorite modes ever to be introduced to the Resi series.

And let me tell you, it bloody well delivers.

This is the arcade adrenaline rush I've been itching for, and now with the ability to play as Luis (or Lewis if you're Leon's original Resi 4 voice actor), it's only gotten better. It's also gotten way more over the top thanks to the addition of Mayhem Mode, which takes the form of a bar that slowly fills up during playtime. Once you've earned a stock, you can unleash your character's special ability and I gotta say, these f**king rock.

Leon gets super speed and better damage across the board with all his weapons, Luis can drop dynamite that he doesn't take damage from so can create huge traps, Hunk gets infinite bloody ammo, and Krauser? Well, my boy here goes to the extreme by unleashing his Las Plagas Swiss Army Hands and turns into a one-hit kill machine.

Seriously, when you hit that Stinger special move and see him slice through everything including mini-bosses in one hit, you'll be left mouth agape with the word "what?!" dripping from your lips.
