Throughout gaming there have been some truly shocking betrayals. General Shepard selling out his men for a personal grab at glory, Dutch turning his back on his family in Red Dead Redemption 2 and of course any time your sibling betrayed you by deleting the portal bridge that you were standing on in Portal 2 you little s**te.

However one of the most shocking backstabs came from a rather unexpected source: The arcade version of Double Dragon, in which brothers Bimmy and Jimmy go on a quest to save Billy's girlfriend Marian.

However even though the brothers go through hell and high water to bring her back safely, it turns out that Jimmy didn't exactly go on this journey out of brotherly love, for if you were playing the game with a friend after defeating the final boss, the game would then pit both players against each other in a fight for to the death.

The brotherly betrayal angle is a well worn trope but hoo boy did it come out of left field here, leaving one steadfast friends now fighting each other in a move that pretty much everyone agrees was a dick stunt to pull by Jimmy.
