8 Video Games That Just Aren't As Good As You Remember

4. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater

While the Tony Hawk's franchise might be experiencing something of a renaissance what with the outstanding success stories of the recent remakes and the hint at a potential new mainline entry in the next year or so, there was a time where the Birdman wasn't flying all that high at all.

And no I'm not talking about the raging skip first of Tony Hawks Pro 5 or Ride as these never even got off the bloody floor.

I'm actually referring to the original game, which despite laying the groundwork for the future of this lucrative series incredibly well, isn't all that smooth a ride upon returning to it today.

While the basics are all in place such as the addictive trick system, hidden secrets, and of course thumping soundtrack, the game lacks any ability to chain tricks together, something that Tony Hawks 2 and 3 sought to rectify and in doing so catapulted the series into the spotlight.

It's still a fun game, but the lack of manual and revert skills plus the overall sluggishness of the skaters really does make the title feel like it's truly been left in the dust.

Playing this title through the recent remaster is how our brain remembers that early experience, and to be honest it's probably best you keep it that way.
