8 Video Games That Let You Win In The Worst Possible Ways
7. Cheesing The Demon Of Hatred - Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Now honestly, I could have put cheesing any FromSoftware boss as this entry as putting in the hours, getting accustomed to the grind, memorising patterns and eventually coming out on top really is where these titles hit their full stride. However, the Demon Of Hatred deserves special mention for several reasons.
For a start, this boss feels unique within the game. Whereas nearly every other boss battle within Sekiro will focus on pushing forward with aggressive strikes and parrying every blow that comes your way, The Demon Of Hatred plays much more like a Dark Souls boss battle, keeping you at a distance and unleashing huge area of effect attacks rather than a flurry of strikes. Secondly, it has a really sombre tone as this is a glimpse into one of Wolf Dad's potential futures, that if he gives in to rage then he too could become a demon which will have to be put down by another warrior down the line.
It's a message on not holding onto the cycle of violence that makes up revenge, about letting go of anger, and finally besting the beast comes with a moment of self-reflection. Which you totally negate if you cheese him into falling off a cliff in about 10 seconds.
