8 Video Games That Made You Hate Yourself

6. Tekken 8

GTA Definitive Edition
Namco

Tekken 8 released to rave reviews from most critics, with wide praise for its stunning visuals and tight gameplay, yet a month after release, the player reception took something of a tumble when Namco opened the in-game Tekken Shop.

The shop would allow players to buy classic costumes for the game's roster of fighters, which isn't an inherently bad thing, except that you're required to purchase Tekken Coins with real-world money.

More to the point, each classic costume costs a whopping 400 Tekken Coins, amounting to $3.99 in real money, which is a frankly exorbitant ask for a... digital costume.

But Namco clearly knew what they were doing, baiting fans with nostalgic costumes from the earlier Tekken games and getting them to fork over top dollar for them.

It didn't soothe the fanbase much that many of the default costumes are... not great, clearly encouraging players to start spending in the shop, and Namco further pissed fans off by issuing DMCA takedown notices to those hosting fan-produced costume mods.

Though Steam reviews swiftly slid into "mixed" territory, how many of us simply couldn't resist the allure of those gorgeous O.G. outfits and opened our wallets anyway, while totally hating ourselves for supporting such craven greed?
