8 Video Games That Made You Regret Killing Bosses
6. Shadow of the Colossus
By the end of Shadow of the Colossus, you're left the world's saddest, most regret-filled serial killer.
As protagonist Wander, players spend the entirety of the game seeking out and slaughtering sixteen majestic, mysterious creatures which were largely just minding their own business, amid the belief that doing so will resurrect a young girl named Mono.
But at game's end, it's revealed that the shadowy entity Wander cut his dubious deal with, Dormin, was largely just orchestrating his own resurrection.
Each colossus the player kills restores a fraction of Dormin's essence, and with the death of the sixteenth and final colossus, he's set free.
While players may well feel pangs of regret throughout the game for felling these beasts even before they know Dormin's true motive, once you're aware that you're just helping reconstitute an ancient evil, it's basically impossible not to feel like a giant bag of crap.
