8 Video Games That Mock You For Using Cheat Codes
4. Tachyon: The Fringe
If you're gonna have to sit through a video game chewing you out, with an accompanying voiceover no less, the blow is at least softened a little by having Bruce freakin' Campbell doing the chewing-out, right?
In 2000's space combat game Tachyon: The Fringe, players can activate cheats by first typing "im a cheater" into the command menu, which then allows you to enter codes to render your ship invincible, upgrade it with weapons, and enrich yourself with credits, you lucky devil.
In tribute to Campbell, who provides the voice of protagonist Jake Logan, the cheat code to access all weapons even paraphrases his most iconic character - Evil Dead's Ash Williams - with players being required to type "boom stick" to unlock it.
But entering any cheat code will also result in Logan addressing you via voiceover with one of many savage put-downs. That is to say, Bruce Campbell himself will call you some variation of a "pathetic little cheater," evidently angry and embarrassed that you've deigned to taking the easy way out.
