8 Video Games That Reward You For Doing Nothing

4. Wario Land 2 - A Brand New Game!

Unlike some other entries on this list which reward the player for staying silent during heated debates or by keeping their mouths shut during a tense situation, Wario Land 2 rewards the player by testing their patience and just how deep a sleeper they are.

At the start of the impeccable handheld adventure that is Wario Land 2, Wario is dozing on his lavish bed (albeit without a cover which has likely been blown off by his extreme flatulence) when all of a sudden a noise more aggravating than Gilbet Goddfried with a twisted ankle begins to rumble through his castle. At this point, the player is prompted to, you know, shut that annoying noise off by smashing his alarm clock to pieces.

Why exactly it's in another room and not next to his bed is another question but such is how the adventure usually starts.

Now I say usually because if you're deep into a shift at the ZZZ factory and fancy an extra forty winks, you can choose to sleep through this alarm, at which point the enemies of the game waltz into your room, pick you up, and hoof you out of the window. Most games at this point would opt for a nonstandard game over, but this is Wario Land 2 baby and is therefore made of stranger stuff.

Instead, the player effectively gets a whole new game, made of redesigned levels and a custom ending! Not bad for deciding to literally sleep on the job!
