Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater was released in 2004, and continues to be considered one of the best video games of all time. There a bunch of reasons why, many of them to do with Hideo Kojima's masterful directing, but one of the most fascinating (and rather hilarious) little details involves the sniper boss The End.

Snipers can be difficult enough to deal with in video games at the best of times, but The End is particularly nasty. He can drain Snake's stamina, will become enraged if you kill his pet parrot and you've got to battle him over three zones. He's also one-hundred years old, which is important for this next part.

If you can't or simply don't want to fight him, you can save your game mid-fight and then just not play the game for a week. When you return, The End will have died of old age. Not even ancient snipers can be escape the clutches of mortality.
