8 Video Games That Turned Out Nothing Like We Were Promised

8. Far Cry 3

This one goes last, 'cause the finished game is actually awesome, and there's less difference between what we were told we were getting and what we actually got when compared with the rest of the games on this list by quite a fair margin. So Far Cry 3, which stranded plays on a tropical island and gave them the freedom to explore, hunt, collect things and murder people, came out to fairly rave reviews, many of which praised its lush visuals, fun gameplay mechanics and the sheer amount of stuff that there was to do. But take a look at the initial "gameplay footage" was saw at E3, people, and you'll see something's not quite right. Hm, the final game wasn't quite as fluid as that, was it? No, it wasn't, and people were pretty peeved when they realised that the gameplay footage they'd seen from years ago looked better than the visuals they were getting in 2013 (on a PC running full capacity, no less). Still, the final gameplay itself - though perhaps not as smooth and clearly worse off when it comes to the finer details - looks pretty similar in the side-by-side comparison, regardless of graphics, which is nice. So whereas developer Ubisoft might have led gamers astray with the graphical capabilities of their game, the quality remained in tact. Which isn't always the case.
