8 Video Games That Tragically Wasted Their Genius Premise
4. Adventure Time: Explore The Dungeon Because I DON'T KNOW!
Adapting a children's show into a video game shouldn't be too hard since most of the material is already written out for the game developers. It's especially seamless if that show draws inspiration from video games like Cartoon Network's popular Adventure Time for example. The show takes cliches from popular dungeon crawlers and weaves them into its gleeful plots with ingenious results. So it was only a matter of time before some developer seized the opportunity to create a brilliant dungeon crawler starring our heroes Finn and Jake going on their adventures as the premise. Unfortunately, Adventure Time: Explore The Dungeon Because I DON'T KNOW! from WayForward isn't that dungeon crawler. In fact, ATETDBIDK isn't even much of a dungeon crawler since it lacks all the essentials for such a game. Although you have an assortment of unique characters to choose from each with his/her own unique power that's all you're getting. Where are the deep character customization options, special attacks, powerful weapons and equipment, intricate dungeon layouts, hidden areas, and memorable enemies? Nowhere is where. In the end, ATETDBIDK proved to be another quick cash grab destined for the garbage bin with the exception of having a cryptic subtitle for a clue.
