8 Video Games Where Everyone Loses

7. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine

In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war.

The Warhammer 40K Universe lives up to this pseudo-motto with a sizeable degree of commitment as, whatever faction you choose to align yourself with, there’s going to be a fair amount of lore giving you a glimpse as to how miserable a world the future has become. Taking no exception in the realm of video games, Space Marine sees you playing as Captain Titus of the aforementioned beefed-up space soldiers, tasked with reclaiming Forge World Graia from invading Orks, and securing military supply lines for the authoritarian Imperium.

Following a brutal cavalcade through hordes of Orks, treacherous allies, and Gods of Chaos, Titus barely escapes from Graia with his life. Any other shooter would have called it a day there, but true to form, Titus is instead sold out by his comrade Leandros and tried for heresy, his unexpected resistance to evil Chaos energy raising suspicions that he may have become corrupted to serve the dark lords.

With Graia now under Imperial quarantine and Titus held by an Inquisition that has an alternative take on ‘justice’, you’d be hard-pressed to find a winner coming out of all of that death.
