8 Video Games You Bought Just For A Mini-game

1. Mesal Gear Solid: Snake Escape - Ape Escape 3

Resident Evil 5
Konami

If there's a video game franchise guaranteed to make me go absolutely bananas it's the Ape Escape games, as each title is just so utterly joyous that it's impossible not to have a big dumb smile on your face while playing. And yet, somehow Ape Escape 3 managed to make the other entries look like absolute flung feces thanks to an utterly brilliant crossover mini-game.

I'm speaking of course about "Mesal Gear Solid" a brilliant pairing of Metal Gear Solid and Ape Escape, and if that sounds like an insane combination, then don't worry my friends, we're only just getting started! This mini-game, if you can even call it that seeing as it's legitimately full of it's own meta-content, sees you piloting Pico-snake as he tries to stop a "Lazy Cannon" being fired by a group of Bad-ass bonobos.

What this boils down to is a surprisingly faithful rendition of the Metal Gear formula but housed within the Ape Escape engine. Sneaking around snowy vistas, distracting guards, and then going absolutely ape on them to steal their ID tags is an absolute blast, and thanks to the sheer depth of the gameplay you might actually convince yourself that this experience is more weighty than the main game!

Plus the monkeys dancing in the opening title screen is absolute genius.
