8 Ways All Video Games Are Becoming Exactly The Same
4. Content Being Locked Off In Season Passes
There's a good chance that if you've gone into a store to buy a new game in the past few years, you've also had someone trying to sell you the season pass alongside.
Instead of waiting for a title's DLC to drop periodically over the months or years following release, a season pass lets you buy everything up front for a discounted price, giving you instant access to the content as soon as it's available.
But while season passes aren't inherently evil, there's always the worry that publishers will ship a game that's lacking in content and expect players to buy the season pass just so they can access features that should have been in the base game.
It's been argued that this is exactly what happened with the original Star Wars Battlefront, which could explain why EA have dropped the feature from the upcoming sequel.
But still, Battlefront 2 is the only big exception to the rule at the moment, as every other major release, no matter whether it's focused on single-player or multiplayer, will be releasing alongisde the option to buy at least one season pass.
