8 Ways Assassin’s Creed Rogue Is The Best In The Series

8. Improved On Black Flag

Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag was a great game that revitalised the series after mediocre Revelations, and downright disappointment of Connor’s story. Bringing a whole new spin to the game-play, completely overhauling the way it was played, Black Flag made Assassin’s Creed great again. But for all it did well, it fell short in numerous ways and ultimately felt like a pirate game branded with the Assassin’s Creed name for marketing purposes.

But Rogue, took all that and made Black Flag even better. Honing the sailing combat and perfecting it down to a tee, Rogue made the perfect high-seas sailing game. Whilst it didn’t have the same swashbuckling locale of Black Flag, it had the Assassin’s Storyline, combing the perfect game-play style and story to make a great AC game.

Not only did the game improve thematically, but the tweaks to the sailing combat made the game infinitely more balanced and difficult with different tactics having to be employed against different ships. And the fact that enemy ships had the ability to board your ship and not just the other way around, meaning you had to have a sharp eye for any ships trying to get the upper hand. The game just improved on nearly all the major criticisms Black Flag had refining the experience even more.

And thank god, they cut the number of following missions down severely.
