8 Ways Assassin’s Creed Rogue Is The Best In The Series
6. Compelling Characters
While having, a great protagonist is a vital step to making a great game, the characters around the protagonist are equalling important and Rogue does a brilliant job of building that relationship and comradery between Shay and his closest friends.
The beginning of the game is spent building the bonds between Liam and Chevalier and all the other characters so that the pivotal point where Shay betrays them has more weight. It also adds an incredibly personal element to all the assassinations later in the game. Where the other games would have, you kill another random Templar, Rogue had you hunting your old friends.
Joining the Templars puts you in league with the enemy and gives you an insight into the ‘bad guys’ of the other games and of course sheds light on the true nature of the characters. They are given personality and are engaging, relatable people that make their deaths even more poignant. The characters are well written and are more entertaining and enjoyable to most of those in the other games in the series.
Also, Haytham comes back for quite a bit of the game so that makes it infinitely better.
