8 Ways Assassin’s Creed Rogue Is The Best In The Series
1. It Wasn't Bloated
The problem with some Assassin’s Creed game is the fact that they can feel like there is far too much crammed into them. They can feel like they have sequences of missions just to have more missions and pad the game time, while adding nothing thematically or intuitive game-play wise beyond more of the same. I’m not saying every mission must reinvent the wheel, but when you’re doing more of the same mission just to make the game longer, there is a problem.
Rogue found that perfect length and when looking at it, it seems like it would be far too short with only six sequences, but, the game got it right. Instead of making a drawn out, bloated game with only a few awesome parts spread across it, Rogue took all those awesome parts and squeezed them into one tighter experience. Instead of forcing the player to play lots of missions, they made it so that the side missions were fun and worth seeking out and collectables unlocked outfits and upgrades that had benefits. Like outfits coming with a built-in bandanna to block out smoke.
It still had your usual Assassin’s Creed collectable swamp, but the whole game was tighter and more concise instead of fluctuating quality. And despite its shorter length, it was probably one of the more satisfying entries to complete, with the game feeling like it rounded itself off well instead of being a drawn out ending.
Not to mention the ending of Rogue was easily one of the most surprising in the series.
