8 Ways PES 2022 Has To Impress To Make It Worth The Wait

3. Online Servers Fit For The Next Generation

PES delivers great gameplay offline, but the whole series has been plagued by poor online servers. When Pro Evo first went online on the PlayStation 2, it was a mess and still to this day it struggles to have a stable online connection.

FIFA isn't perfect online, but the majority of matches you play will not encounter problems. However, for PES it is a struggle nearly every match.

Button delay and lag can be game-breakers in sports titles and too often this is the case. Controlling defenders can be especially frustrating as one mistake which can't be avoided can lead to conceding a goal.

Regardless of Konami having a year extra to focus on their new game, PES on the next generation of consoles needs to run as smoothly online as it does off. When it works, it is the best football game to play, but currently it fails to live up to its potential on too many occasions. This needs to be a priority for the series to compete against its main rival as more content is pushed for the online portion of PES.
