A constant frustration of many Rocket League players is the quitting of players during ranked matches. Its a common thing to see, and almost everyone who's had a game or two will have come across it, becoming a reason why many ranked matches are only played with friends, rather than getting partnered up with a random player. The current system Rocket League has in place is a fifteen minute ban on matchmaking, no exceptions. This means that whilst its a fairly simple system, it punishes players that may have been forced to disconnect or have no choice but to leave due to the unplayable lag which can be common on servers during certain periods. A fairer approach would be for Psyonix to focus solely on deserting players, with a strike system in place. If a player is found to constantly leave matches towards the last minute game their losing, then the servers should take note. Similar to the system Grand Theft Auto has in place, a frequent player could be placed in servers dedicated to bad sports, as well as an embarrassing object or item slapped onto the side of their car for a considerable amount of time. Ranked matches are a lot of fun to play, despite the frustration and annoyance of losing from time to time, but being put into a handicap situation is no fun at all.
