8 Worst Things About Being A Gamer In 2016
6. VR Still Isn't That Great
Putting aside the hefty price tag, there still isn't a lot of great VR software. The most notable title so far is the upcoming Resident Evil 7, but that has yet to disprove the often raised notion that VR is only a good fit for horror games. And even then, Resi 7 isn't VR exclusive.
Without a solid line-up of VR exclusives, the peripheral has little worth, but the VR install base is so low right now that it's not really worth pumping a lot of money into making those exclusives. It's a bit of a catch 22.
Then there are all the weird immersion issues, like the fact you can stick your head through nearly every surface because the game can't physically stop you, or the fact that most games don't allow you to fully interact with your surroundings because of the absurd amount of programming it would take. Who wants to play VR if they can't even open a cupboard in the corner of the room?
Perhaps the brilliant VR exclusive software is coming soon, but until then, it's just not worth it.
