8 Worst Things About Being A Gamer In 2016
5. Few Developers Do DLC Right
Remember when buying a game meant you owned the whole thing?
Granted, some DLC is amazing value for money, adding fantastic content to an already brilliant game. Take Bloodborne's The Old Hunters DLC, for example. According to developer From Software, they only began working on the material after the base game was completed, knowing that doing otherwise would lower the overall quality of both.
More and more, however, the opposite is true: developers are cutting chunks out of games and selling them as DLC later on. The sad thing is, they aren't even hiding it. The number of AAA titles that release with DLC already available (or coming very soon, so please buy the season pass for full access) is astonishing.
I get that this has been an issue for a while now, but you'd think in 2016 the situation would have improved. It hasn't, though, and if anything, it's got even worse by way of the act that most gamers totally accept it, tacking on the price of a season pass before purchasing a new game without batting an eye.
Again, DLC is awesome when it's used sparing and released respectfully, but right now we're a far cry away from that.
