9 "Hated" Video Games You Should Play In 2020
9. No Man's Sky
Did you realise it's been four years since No Man's Sky's whole launch window fiasco?
Four years since "the most disappointing game ever" still sold incredibly well, but was also one of the most returned and refunded games of all time.
Now, whilst I'll always champion what the game was at launch anyway, those four years have been spent adding a ludicrous amount of content to bulk the experience out. Everything from vehicles to walking mechs, multiplayer modes to quest logs, portals, base-building and underwater exploration.
No Man's Sky finally became what everyone thought it was going to be the first time.
The No Man's Sky of 2020 continues to be a "platform for content" in ways the likes of Anthem could only dream of. There's a dedicated, passionate fanbase investing thousands of hours discovering every last scrap of the cosmos together. Hello Games have done all of this with free updates and zero microtransactions.
It might have stumbled and bloodied its nose something fierce, but No Man's Sky should be held up as how to recover with grace, and over time, how to treat a fanbase better than ever.
