3. Bigby Wolf (The Wolf Among Us)
Cry fowl if you must, as I know the Fables comic series has been around for just over a decade. However with this being new gaming characters of 2013, the series has just made it's first cross-medium leap into videogame form, with Telltale Games' The Wolf Among Us. Telling the story of what it would be like if fairytale characters actually lived in New York City, it's a fantastic game that takes after the first volume of the franchise with a 'whodunit!?'-murder-mystery-with-magic tale. The full game will be episodic like Telltale's previous Walking Dead series, yet so far there's only one part revealed. Bigby Wolf is (did you guess?) The Big Bad Wolf, and when he's not putting Colin the pig up in his apartment due to initially blowing his house down in his younger days, he's the Sheriff of Fabletown, trying to prevent the rest of them from ripping each other apart. Without giving away contextual spoilers, let's just say the emergence of Bigby's true form is something that heralds one of the best scenes in the first episode, and although it's more liberally used in the comics, his in-game 'Wolfman' aesthetic allows his character to be the literal lone-wolf-with-a-heart-of-gold archetype we all know and love.
