6. J.K. Simmons - Portal 2

Let me take a moment to remind you two facts about the year 2011 that some of us may have forgotten within the last 5 years:

1.) J.K. Simmons used to be a decently well known but not highly acclaimed actor, mostly known for his turns on TV shows, Jason Reitman films, and Sam Rami's Spider-Man trilogy.

2.) Valve used to make video games.

While undoubtably inferior to it's predecessor, Portal 2 was superior to Portal in one aspect: A broader cast of characters. Simmons voices Cave Johnson, founder of Aperture Science.

Throughout the latter half of the game, the player listens to archive recordings of him running Aperture, giving a hysterical glimpse into what sort of madman would create a company this morally bankrupt.

While not a household name at the time, Simmons was known for playing fathers and mentor figures (even ones as manic as J. Jonah Jameson). His superficially cheerful voice perfectly fit the voice of a disapproving father figure to the company, as well as gave us a nice little hint that this actor may one day win an Oscar for playing another probably psychotic "visionary".
