5. Sean Bean - The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Like The Legend of Spyro, Oblivion was one of those games that had a large enough budget to spring for more than 1 decently famous voice - although the limit of that budget is clear when they start killing of their famous voice actors left and right.
Which brings us to Sean Bean. I would have prefaced this with a spoiler warning, but if Sean Bean and spoiler warning are in the same sentence everyone already knows what the spoiler is.
In that spirit, let's be frank: Being played by Sean Bean in anything is tantamount to a death sentence for a character. Sean Bean plays Martin Septim, a priest who is the illegitimate son of Emperor Patrick Stewart. The voice of Bean behind a fairly soft spoken priest belies his nobility, integrity and his eventual fate at the end of the game.
From the outset, Bean's vocal performance suggests that there is more to this character than meets the eye. Oblivion is cagey enough about its commitment to the whole Sean Bean death contract, so for a moment there we almost think he's going to come out alright. But even when it's clear he's done for, no one makes the most out of a noble death than the man who was Boromir.
