9 Best Nintendo Spin-Off Video Games - Ranked
3. Pokemon Snap
I may have lied earlier, because Pokemon Colosseum and Gale of Darkness were only the first Pokemon games to be in 3D in the sense that they followed the plot of capturing Pokemon and defeating an evil organization. In truth, the first 3D game is Pokemon Snap. Snap is unconventional as a spin off, more so than the other Pokemon side games, because the others still feature training or Rangers, both of which are familiar to fans of the show and games.
However, Snap is a photography game, which might be utterly boring, if it did not take place in the Pokemon world. It's a small tweak, but one that makes all the difference, and not simply because most people would have bought any game if Nintendo slapped the Pokemon logo on it.
In Snap, players can visit many environments on the island populated by a variety of the creatures, and photograph them to assist Professor Oak in his research. Submitting the best pictures for review, players are judged on the quality of their photographs and are given access to different tools to get the angle they need.
The game was a staple of many childhoods, and considering how addictive it was, many fans are wondering why they haven't made a sequel.
