9 Best PC Multiplayer Video Games You Can Play Offline

7. Helldivers

Though top-down shooters are usually perceived to be rather simple, Helldivers takes all of the great, loot-based grinding of FPS games like Borderlands and combined it with the tactical prowess of something like Ghost Recon.

And while the game can technically be played solo, it truly comes alive when you're in a dedicated team of people. Giving the experience a more hardcore edge, friendly fire is turned on, meaning you need to be well organised if you want to get through to the next planet and achieve the best gear.

Obviously, the spray-and-pray gameplay inherent to all top-down shooters makes this easier said than done, with each level being an intense gauntlet as players need to come together to progress.

Of course, that hook would be nothing without the brilliant, Super Troopers-style design, with everything from the enemies to the weapons evoking that same brand of campy, military sci-fi fun.
