9 Best PC Multiplayer Video Games You Can Play Offline

2. A Way Out

A Way Out
EA

Though you can technically play A Way Out online, it's entirely made to be experienced locally. Hell, it uses a split-screen presentation no matter whether you're playing it over the 'net or not.

That's by design though, as not only does that decision make the game immediately visually striking, but also contributes to its aim of essentially being a love letter to the days of couch co-op. The title uses everything in its arsenal to manipulate the tropes of that style of play to its advantage (screen-peaking included), with the shifting perspectives contributing to strengthening the bond not only between the characters, but real-life players.

Although its story lasts only eight hours or so, the small choices you can make throughout, as well as the completely different experiences of both characters, makes multiple playthroughs almost a necessity. That is, if you can stomach to go through it again after its emotionally-devastating ending.
