Dishonored 2 flew under the radar at launch primarily due to Bethesda and their policies on review copies - a deep rabbit hole that we won't even touch here - but it was a pretty decent sequel that revamped the already stellar mechanics of the original, adding a whole host of new ones to play around with.

One of which, is a level that allows you to time-hop.

Being able to jump back and forth between two different points in time was a thing of wonder, and easily the standout moment of the game. Solving puzzles by arranging things in the past only for it to directly affect the present was genius, and something more games need to try.

The mechanic only existed for a single level - as was the case in Titanfall 2's Cause & Effect - but could have easily been spun out into its own full fledged game. Deep interconnected levels that require you to tinker in the past to unlock secrets in the future would be a brilliant thing.
