The Simpsons are no strangers to video game adaptations. With a catalogue of 27 games, it's understandable that there might be one or two that aren't as well known as some of their best selling titles, like Road Rage or Hit and Run.

Released for the Game Boy Colour in 2001, Night of the Living Treehouse of Horror is a side-scrolling platformer in which players take control of each member of the Simpson family over seven levels, each one based on a different Treehouse of Horror segment from the show.

While not a particularly complex title, the Night of the Living Treehouse of Horror's charm lies in its ability to render the nightmarish and outlandish world of the Simpsons' Halloween specials in game form, each one littered with small in-jokes and minute details that fans of the show went crazy for.

It offers a reasonable amount of challenge for a title that was mostly aimed at a younger audience, and holds up well today for fans of Game Boy platformers.
