9 Confessions Of A PS4 Owner After Buying An Xbox One

4. Backwards Compatibility Really Isn€™t That Big Of A Deal

The Xbox One backwards compatibility reveal was one of the biggest jaw-droppers of 2015. No company has ever implemented a feature like this post-release; hell, more often than not its news that backwards compatibility is being phased out of the machines, rather than being put in. For a time you could feel the envy of PS4 owners everywhere (myself included) as they could only watch while Microsoft added hundreds of classic titles to its games library essentially for free.

But if you're not the type of person who routinely plays classic Xbox 360 games, then you're not really missing too much by not having this feature. Although having the option is nice, just about everyone still has an Xbox 360 tucked away somewhere, with a library of games either going unused in a drawer or being found at ridiculously low prices on the shelves of every single gaming shop on the high street.

Had this feature also allowed players to emulate original Xbox titles, then yeah, that would have been a massive game-changer. But as it stands, allowing gamers to re-play titles they probably only last touched a couple of years ago (and only a handful of them at that) is more of a convenient feature than a killer app - especially in an era where all the old games you want to play have been remastered or re-released anyway.
