9 Critically-Panned Video Games That Players Love

8. Deadly Premonition

Metacritic Score: 68

Objectively speaking, Deadly Premonition is not a good game. A third-person shooter inspired by the likes of Resident Evil and Silent Hill, everything from the oddball title's central story to its core gunplay was utter trash.

But sometimes even garbage can be charming, and what the title lacked in technical prowess it more than made up for in atmosphere, ambition and accidental laughs.

Like the Twin Peaks to Silent Hill's Se7en, although they're functionally similar, the silliness of Deadly Premonition awards it with a distinct sense of personality that makes it way more fun to play than your average critically-acclaimed-but-soulless sequel.

Usually the rule of "it's so bad, it's good" doesn't apply to video games, but where critics went in on the quirky survival horror title for all of its faults, fans embraced them, warts and all.
