Few video games go hand in hand with horrible dark secrets you wish you’d never come across quite like Red Dead Redemption 2. While we’ve pretty comprehensively covered nasty discoveries like the serial killer and the Braithwaite’s horrible treatment of Gertrude, there are some smaller horrifying things that don’t make lists as often so let’s take a walk down miserable memory lane and make sure you’re across those too.

Mosey by the Dakota river and you take a break from riding and fishing to stumble on the corpses of two children. Fun, I know. Nobody does it like Red Dead.

They can be seen lying on and up against a bed in a cabin, and a nearby note can be found that is written by their mother. The note suggests she’s had to leave them for a bit, but everything is locked, they shouldn’t open the door to anyone, there’s enough food to last them four days and she’ll be back soon.

Evidently she was not back soon for whatever reason and the children starved to death.

This is so incredibly grim but it ties in nicely to our next chilling entry so let’s keep this wildly unsettling train of dark video game secrets rolling.
