9 Famous Video Game Characters You Didn't Know Were Gay

1. Sera (Dragon Age: Inquisition)

As already stated, Bioware has played a big part in normalising sexuality in video games, allowing you to engage in all sorts of romances - same-sex, gay, interspecies, whatever - throughout its Dragon Age, Mass Effect and Star Wars series. True to form, Dragon Age: Inquisition has a range of romances for you to have, with characters spanning the spectrum from straight to gay, by way of bisexual. It drew some controversy when Bioware, perhaps a little heavy-handedly, touted recruitable party member and magician Dorian Pavus as a 'fully gay' character. To be clear, no one was shocked that Dorian was gay (this isn't the 50s, after all), but rather the fact that Bioware was seemingly exploiting that fact to gain PR brownie points. A lot less fuss, however, was made about the elven rogue Sera, who is only sexable (not a real word, apparently) if you play a female character. With all the spotlight focused on Freddie Mercury-lookalike Dorian, you could easily have missed her, which would be your loss, because she's a blast (if you play a woman)! Have we missed any out?
