2. Vamp (Metal Gear Solid 2)

The Metal Gear Solid series has a few flirtations with differentsexual preferences, most explicitly in Volgin's infamous crotch-grab of Snake (disguised as Raiden lookalike General Raikov). But it's a little easier to miss the tangential codec conversation in which Snake reveals to Raiden that Vamp was given his name not because he drinks blood and doesn't die easily (both of which, incidentally, are true), but because he's bisexual... because, errr, bisexual people are vampires... maybe? Snake then reveals that Vamp had a relationship with Scott Dolph, the father of Dead Cell member Fortune. When Dolph died, Vamp brought Fortune into Dead Cell, where he developed a close (though non-sexual) bond with her, possibly as a kind of surrogate father figure. But that still leaves the question about what the name 'Vamp' has to do with sexuality, or being bisexual. Is it some strange Kojima-ism that we don't get? Or maybe it refers to the use of the word 'Vamp' as a femme fatale-type character in plenty of noir fiction? Who knows what goes through that crazy, visionary mind of Kojima's...
