9 Hugely Anticipated Video Games That Disappeared Overnight

1. Deep Down

Before the Dark Souls boom, long before Sony would believe in Souls-likes enough to launch the PS5 with something like Demon's Souls, Capcom were working on what could've been their biggest-selling title yet: Deep Down.

Shown in the run-up to the PS4 as a showcase of potential hardware, Deep Down had fire-breathing dragons, co-op multiplayer, stunning graphics for the time and even screenshots of a Mimic chest taking a chomp out of a gallant knight.

Though it's remained a known quantity for almost a decade now, Capcom have commented as recently as November 2019 on the game. Stating the original team have disbanded after so long, they also note the trademark wasn't abandoned for a reason, noting that every single year they survey the competition and "haven't given up on the title completely".

The big question now is: Has something like Deep Down - coming after even FromSoftware have moved on from straight Dark Souls games - missed its window?
