9 Incredible Features WASTED On Disappointing Video Games

4. Massive Zombie Hordes - Days Gone

Days Gone

Now, I want to preface this entry by saying that Days Gone isn't a bad game by any means, and doesn't deserve to be ripped apart as much as it has been, but the game is still disappointing and flawed in a lot of ways, from its presentation and story to its combat and exploration.

For the most part though, its USP, that being the huge zombie hordes that populate the post-apocalyptic world of Oregon, is enough to keep the gameplay interesting and dynamic. Encountering one of these masses of decaying flesh and gnashing teeth is always terrifying, and trying to navigate this seemingly unstoppable force of nature is thrilling. It's a visual spectacle as well, as the horde clambers over the environment and themselves to get to you.

Technical shortcomings do lessen the enjoyment of these enemies however, as having so many zombies on screen at once means each one has pretty basic animations, and the A.I. freaks out (no pun intended) quite often. It's as good a job as the devs could have probably done considering the memory limitations of current consoles, but it does feel like this element will be realised properly in the inevitable Days Gone 2.
