9 Launch Games That Singlehandedly Made Their Consoles Worth Buying

8. The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess - Wii

Halo Combat Evolved
Nintendo

There's nothing all that "revolutionary" about Twilight Princess.

It isn't credited for the formula rewrite that Breath of the Wild managed, it didn't invent or popularize any innovative, never-before-seen concepts for video games as a whole and it won't be remembered as the greatest Zelda game. Not in this timeline or any other.

But despite its ordinariness relative to the entire Zelda pantheon, Twilight Princess is a bloody good game, and one worthy of classic status.

At the end of the day, it's irrelevant anyway. Like Breath of the Wild would mimic years later, Twilight Princess being repurposed into a Wii launch title with seamlessly-integrated motion controls, along with a starkly darker tone than its predecessors and some of the best dungeon level design the series has ever seen made the Wii too enticing to pass up.
