9 Launch Games That Would Ensure Xbox Scorpio's Success
1. Red Dead Redemption 2
Rockstar knows how to handle success. I mean, you only need to take note of Grand Theft Auto V's unbelievable streak of consistent appearances in the charts - which continues even now, three years after its initial launch - to be aware of that, but I'm not sure even it is prepared for the inevitable frenzy that's going to ensue when Red Dead Redemption 2 swings through the saloon doors later this year.
Right now, we're far enough away from release that a period of prolonged calm is preceding the coming storm but come autumn, everyone is going to want a piece of the money-seasoned pie, not least the platform holders, who'll be hailing its arrival with open arms.
Sony may have already secured a deal with Rockstar for an undefined quantity of timed-exclusive content, but Microsoft now has the hardware edge to snuff out any moves its competitor makes to secure a platform majority.
With an initial PC launch already off the table, Red Dead 2 on Scorpio will, until that day, at least, be the uncontested best version, and ultimately, that's what consumers will want for a game in the running to be 2017 game of the year.
