2. Kim Kardashian - Kickstarted The Mobile Game Revolution
Ready to read a truly horrific sentence that's also straight-up gaming fact? *Deep breath*... Kim Kardashian's app was not only very good both critically and commercially, but it's sold over $200 million worth of units and helped usher in the current state of micro-transaction tap-to-win mobile games. Since the Rotund Bummed One's first app hit the ground sprinting, we've seen everything from Kate Upton's endorsement of the stupidly successful Game of War (a title emblematic of the worst things about mobile titles) and more recently Kanye West also looking to replicate his wife's antics too. Across the board mobile developers are looking to replicate everything that worked with Kardashian's Hollywood game; that being one good idea in terms of game mechanics, enough celebrity-endorsement to convince wider audiences it's worth a shot and a 'pay-to-win' model that pops up frequently to tie everything together and make millions. As long as the game at the heart of all that is fun, everything will be okay.
