9 Most Unique Boss Battles In Video Games

Portal is a little ball of uniqueness no matter which way you spin it.

From its worldbuilding to its easter eggs, mechanics, and level design, there’s so many special things here, and the final boss fight of its second title is no exception. The final conflict with the Intelligence Dampening Sphere, better known as Wheatley, who has been corrupted after subbing himself into the main control system is super creative.

As the lab falls apart around you you’re left with very few options and few locations to spawn portals.

One such location is underneath Wheatly where some of the white paint has spilled, the very same white paint that can hold portals and is made of moon dust. When the ceiling falls away and the moon is visible in the night sky some quick thinking will reveal that you could pop the exit portal up on the moon. And you do just that. It’s extremely cool and Valve even programmed in a scientifically accurate speed-of-light delay for how long it would take the moon portal to open. The early stages where you’re navigating around carrying the cores with all their different personalities and the ticking clock make the fight fast-paced and exciting, which is particularly impressive for a game that’s primarily about puzzles and physics.
