9 Most Unique Boss Battles In Video Games

4. Mister Freeze - Batman: Arkham City

While entire games have been created around this mechanic now, it was a dually pleasant and unsettling surprise to realise that Mister Freeze adapts to your attacks in Arkham City. This essentially means you can’t fight him the same way twice and subsequently, that’s he’s super freaking tricky to take down.

Every method of attack works precisely once after which you’ll need to execute a Beat Down.

Once you’ve done so he’ll counter the attack with a suitable response like instead of sneaking up on him successfully a second time, he’ll activate his jetpack. Video game enemies are rarely this intelligent and it makes the fight as clever and unique as it is somewhat frustrating. In this way he’s not only adapting to you, but you need to adapt to him as well, and the harder your difficulty setting the more times you’ll be required to pull off a new take down.

Even when the fight is difficult there’s something delightfully refreshing about dealing with enemy AI that’s actually intelligent.
