9 Mysterious Creatures Hidden In Famous Video Games

6. The Moving Statues - The Witcher 3

Like Dragon Age: Inquisition, the world of The Witcher 3 is stuffed to the gills with an assortment of fantasy creatures, but one particularly sneaky inclusion caught the eyes of players back when the game first launched: a couple of moving statues.

Only visible in one specific part of the game's enormous world, players first had to finish the Lindenvale contract called Monster In The Cemetery, which concluded with a fight against a grave hag. Upon killing the hag, finishing the mission and heading to the cemetery where the fight took place, two angel statues can be seen standing outside the small building.

What's even creepier is that these status move if you take your eyes off them. A reference to Doctor Who's Weeping Angels - ancient beings that turn to stone when they're being observed, but can move at lightning speeds if you look away - The Witcher 3's version can't harm you, but they will creep you the hell out and make you want to get out of there as quickly as possible. Don't blink!

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
