4. The Cave Of Dreams - The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The Witcher 3 provides players with a massive fantasy playground full of fascinating main and side quests, loads of characters to meet with intriguing backstories, and a metric tonne of secrets. This secret in particular involves a fantastic side story that many people may have missed because calling it off the beaten path is an understatement.

This quest takes place on a tiny island many players may not have even explored within the Skellige Isles.

Either by getting a heads up or doing a good job of exploring, you’ll happen upon a band of men who tell you they’re setting off to sea to explore the Cave of Dreams. And it’s exactly as mysterious as it sounds as the cave forces you to face your greatest fears.

A handful of hallucinogenic herbs later and you’re transported into a nightmare trance state where each man must face their greatest fear in a series of encounters. The final encounter is Geralt’s own fear, Eredin, the King of the Wild Hunt, he’ll put up a good fight after which Eredin tells him that Ciri will still be his and he will kill Geralt.

It’s a really fantastic side story that actually plays into the main narrative but you’d be forgiven for having passed it by altogether.
