It shouldn’t come as a surprise that the Elder Scrolls got another look in on this list but this is a really fascinating one. It’s an unmarked side quest that can be found in The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles DLC.

The Shivering Isles is a plane of Oblivion otherwise known as the Realm of Madness. So, you know, not a great holiday location.

The Isles are split into three parts named and characterised by elements that make up the host of the realm, the Daedric Prince Sheogorath. These parts are Mania, Dementia, and The Fringe. In the disturbing realm, the Daedric Prince has deemed that suicide is illegal and as a result those who commit it are trapped for eternity on the Hill of Suicides.

If you find this place you’ll need to free each soul by finding and returning their skulls which are scattered across the Shivering Isles. It takes some time but this will set them to rest and allow them to finally leave the hill. Before doing so they will each cast Spirit Blessing on the Hero as a parting gift. The reward for completing the quest is the Risen Flesh Greater Power which lets you reanimate dead humanoid targets.

It’s an excellent and haunting side story that’s a must play for fans who may have missed it.
