9 Reasons Red Dead Redemption 2 Is Already Better Than GTA 5
3. A Morality System That Reflects Your Actions
Like the first game, everything you do gets tracked on a "morality scale". It pops up on the bottom of the screen whenever you do something wholesome or nefarious, affecting how the world responds to Morgan on his travels.
It sounds a lot like how Fable would generate different audio clips of NPCs, be they favourable, disgusted or anything in between, and means you can "role play" a little more deliberately than just "crazy gun-wielding psychopath", a la GTA.
Speaking of which, GTA V had a consistency problem in regards to more weighty moments, contrasted against the sheer anarchy you could indulge in between missions. It's something that dogged the franchise since GTA 4 introduced more relatable characters, but with the West being a more lawless time and Morgan's personality being dictated by your actions at all times, it should all come together far better.
Lastly, Kotaku notes that the game gives "better payouts for robberies if you play more dishonourably, and higher payouts for chasing down bounties if you play more honourably".
